For those who enjoy collecting coins, the Sydney Mint Museum has a wide range of coin collection from the past and present. With many rare coins from both Australia and around the world, this museum is a fully restored and re-furbished building which was once served as the Royal Mint.

It was in this historical building that the gold flooding from the Gold Rush Era in 1801 was actually weighed and melted into sovereigns. Included in the display are the very first Australian coins, computer displays where visitors can access historic photographs and images of Circular Quay and many more historical resources.
