Location: Walsh Bay (west of The Rocks) and Woolloomooloo Bay

Once upon a time, the Sydney Harbour was one of the most busiest harbours in Australia. When the government moved the trading port to Prymont, much of the wharves fell into a state of disrepair and lack of maintenance. Much of the old, grey wharves of today around Woolloomooloo and Walsh Bay are reminders of those hectic days. Today, most of the loading and unloading of crates from cargo ships can be found near Prymont and around the western coves.

Visiting these old wharves may not be possible as most of them are restricted due to vandalism. For the best view of the wharves, head for Mrs. Macquarie Point. If you want a closer look, the Sydney Theatre Company on Hickson Road, Pier 4, is a refurbished wharf that is open to the public. Towards the end of the wharf is the Wharf Restaurant and Cafe that has a great view of the Harbour and the Harbour Bridge.
