Location: Parramatta

Towards the west is a part of Sydney known as the Western Suburbs. Parramatta was once the focal point for Sydney because of the river that runs through it; Parramatta River. The river was used by early settlers who settled down around the Parramatta region during the early 1800s.

Some of the most beautiful buildings can be found here. Visitors to Parramatta should consider visiting Elizabeth Farm and the original Government House.

The Western Suburb is so huge that it has its own Central Business District in the form of Parramatta. This is where you would find the demographic centre of Sydney and the site of the Olympics at Homebusy Bay.

TIPS: The construction of Westfield Shopping Mall is probably one of the major highlight in Parrmatta. Easily considered as the largest and most impressive shopping mall in Sydney, this huge complex has over 150 stores located throughout. To walk from one end of the complex to the other will take you about half an hour. Parking at the mall is usually a nightmare during the weekends so go during the weekdays. You are allowed up to three hours of free parking.

To get to Parramatta via public transport, take the train to Strathfield Station then change for a train to Parramatta Station. The mall is just a few blocks away.
