How to purchase your ticket

Sydney Ferry Buying a ticket to board a public ferry is easy and convinient. If you are travelling from Circular Quay or Manly then you will need to purchase your tickets before you even begin travelling. These magnetic tickets can be bought from either the tellers at the ticket windows or ticket machines on the jetties themselves. If you are travelling in the opposite direction, then you can get your tickets using the machines on the jetties of Circular Quay and Manly. Buy the tickets before you arrive on the jetties before you exit the port.

The Sydney Ferries will take you almost anywhere. You can purchase a package deal which include a return ferry ride from Taronga Zoo, Manly Aquarium and many other interesting places. To locate a public ferry, simply look for the green and dull yellow ferries.

Cost of Tickets

The cost of your ferry tickets will, of course, depend on where you want to go. A "return" ticket which is a two-way ticket will cost double a single-way ticket. The major terminal ports are located on Circular Quay and this should be the place for you to purchase your ticket. Ask for a day pass which allows you to get on and off the ferries at any time.

Ferry Timetable

Most ferries will operate from 6am until late but some may close at night. In the case that ferries close at night, just look for a bus (Night Bus Service) or hail a water taxi. The later is a small water vehicle that will take you to the nearest port of your choice for an affordable price.
